Now finally a make and mend technique I can do at home!
After looking at the Victoria and Albert's POWER OF MAKING exhibition, the work of Heleen Klopper caught my eye. She successfully and very colourfully might I add fills in holes with a woolfiller repairing fibre. Most edges of holes are haggered and rarely clean cut with fraying edges, loose yarns, ladders or worn patches. This irregularity in the thicknesses of the garment makes it an ideal candidate for the use of felt. Unlike fillers made for wood, felt works mechanically and
attaches itself by means of minuscule scales meaning it can easily attach itself to any open structure.
I love this idea of filling a hole with something new and exciting, sure it can make the jumper or item look a bit mismatched but it will add a story to your clothing and mean that you will probably hang on to it for much longer than you would normally do.
