SWISHING

'Save money, save the planet, have a party: swishing effortlessly touches all of thee buttons. Swishing parties are for all those women who want to combine glamour, environmental protection and frugality.' - Founder, Lucy Shea.

'Swishing' clothes is an organised event founded by Lucy Shea where people can bring their unwanted but good-quality clothes to be swapped amongst others.  It allows people to recycle their clothes and give them to a good home where they will be used instead of being banquished to the corner of our wardrobes. It is the latest eco-friendly development to hit the fashion world which can be organised by anyone and everyone. Events have already taken place in South Africa, China, Brazil and the UK and shows how people are becoming more conscious of the impact shopping has on the environment.

Swishing is one way we can get the thrill of finding exciting and unique pieces at the same time as reducing carbon emissions and going easy on our bank accounts. It allows a home for  your unwanted possessions and allows us to shop without feeling guilty. The amount we throw away suggests that we don't appreciate our clothes as much as we should, or don't think twice before we buy them further contributing to waste and unwanted goods.

Personally I think swishing is fantastic, it gives us a reason to clear out our wardrobes and get new clothes whilst also saving the planet! In the words of Jess Cartner-Morley, swishing has become 'The future of fashion' - a perfect way of finding new, free clothes with a clear conscience!
